Get Started as Provider

Conditions for Participation

Resource Quantity: Minimum 0.1 MW (aggregation allowed).

Measurement Requirements: Determined by the procuring network owner. Measurement data can be managed manually in SWITCH or sent via API.

For E.ON the following applies:

If the resource is connected to E.ON’s power grid and the flexibility delivery can be settled at the connection point, E.ON’s measurement can be used. Otherwise, sub-meters can be utilized. The provider is then responsible for ensuring the relevant resource has measurement of electricity production/consumption and that measurement data is sent to SWITCH. Missing measurement data can, in some cases, be uploaded manually afterward by E.ON.

Reference (Baseline):

  • For activation the day before, reference data is provided by no later than 09:30.

  • For intraday activation, reference data is provided by no later than H-4.

Approved Methods for Reference Data:

  • Own Reference Plan - Uploaded via web interface or API.

  • Zero Reference - Based on 0 production/consumption.

  • MBMA (Meter Before, Meter After) - Calculation performed by SWITCH based on resource measurement.

Pre-qualification

The functionality of the products is described in the Market Products section.

To gain access to markets in SWITCH, an actor must register as a flexibility service provider (FSP) and then qualify their flexible resources for approval by the network owner (DSO).

1

Registration

The procuring DSO collects information about the provider, product, and market to set up a new FSP organization in the SWITCH test environment (QA)

2

Verification

The FSP conducts tests in the SWITCH QA environment to verify data flows (measurement and/or reference values) and basic resource characteristics

3

Review

Once at least one test resource meets the data requirements, access to the SWITCH production environment is granted

If needed, activation tests can also be conducted in the QA environment. Once pre-qualification is completed, the FSP can independently handle their resource qualification.

How to Use SWITCH

Each page in SWITCH has a corresponding description in the user documentation, accessible via the question mark in the top right corner. In addition to the web interface, all operations can also be performed directly via API.

Submit and View Offers

For the products "Availability Orders" and "Direct Orders," the Create offers page is used to trade orders on the market. Tenders, including for Seasonal Availability, are accessed via the Market > View tenders page.

Deliver Flexibility

Once trading has taken place, it may become relevant to deliver flexibility. If delivery cannot be carried out, the relevant DSO should be contacted.

Follow-Up

In addition to offers, there is also a history of orders with associated transactions, described on the Market Follow-Up page.

Historical market data for previous seasons can be found here.

Settlement and Invoicing

Based on the product and compensation model, a settlement is performed in SWITCH and reviewed by the DSO. Invoicing can then take place according to the agreement between the FSP and DSO.
